Simms Named Director of Basketball Ops

Tyler Simms has been hired as the new Director of Basketball Operations at Siena, replacing David Matturro who left to pursue a grad manager job at VCU.  Simms, a former player and team captain at Trinity College worked most recently as a graduate assistant at Divison II Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA. The basketball ops position as defined by the NCAA is a non coaching position which prohibits on the court coaching and recruiting. Simms will serve in an admistrative role assisting with the teams planning, and program logistics such as traveling, scheduling, facilities, and transportation.  The naming of Simms leaves one opening on coach Mitch’s staff,  the assistant coach position left vacant with the departure of Stephen Ott who left for Lehigh.


Previous to his time at Mercyhurst, Tyler was an assistant coach at Wilbraham and Monson Academy in Wilbraham, Mass. He also served as program director for Basketball, LLC, a company that runs AAU and high school events for the Basketball Hall of Fame . He was also Director of Basketball Ops. for a youth program SECC Allstars and has a great deal of experience coaching at several basketball camps including Hoop Group, Elite, Bob Hurley Camp, and Five Star. 4guysinblazers welcomes Tyler to Siena and wishes him the best of luck in his new role.
