Siena Women’s Basketball junior guard Emia Willingham is likely to miss the Saints’ upcoming 2015-16 season. The local product out of nearby Albany High in Albany, N.Y. recently suffered a fracture/dislocation of her right ankle during a non-basketball related activity, according to Siena’s sports medicine staff.

“This is unfortunate for Emia, she had made great progress this summer heading into her junior year,” said head coach Ali Jaques. “We look forward for her to make a full recovery. Emia is a really tough young woman and I’m sure she’ll tackle her recovery like every other challenge that has been put in front of her.”

Willingham appeared in all 35 games and made her first collegiate start as a sophomore last season for the Saints which posted a 22-13 overall record and advanced to the championship game of the Women’s Basketball Invitational. She averaged 5.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 22.8 minutes of action and ranked third in the MAAC in steals (2.0), including six games with four or more thefts.

The Saints tip off their 2015-16 season at St. Bonaventure in the Preseason WNIT on Nov. 13.
