Siena Women’s Recruits To Play In NYC Mayor’s Cup All-Star Game


Two incoming Siena Women’s Basketball recruits will compete in the 2014 NYC Mayor’s Cup Basketball All-Star Game on Saturday, March 29, at City College of New York (CCNY). Joella Gibson, a guard from Murry Bergtraum and Kollyns Scarbrough, a forward from Christ the King will compete on opposite teams in the event which will showcase the best high school seniors from the Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) and the Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) as they compete for the title of “Best in the City.”

Now in its fourth year, the NYC Mayor’s Cup Basketball All-Star Games feature both girls and boys games of the Big Apple’s best high school seniors. The event presented by NYC & Company, New York City’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organization will take place at CCNY’s Nat Holman Gymnasium, 160 Convent Ave. (at W. 136th Street), with the girls game starting at 1pm, followed immediately by the boys game at 3pm. Tickets for all games will be distributed free of charge at the door on a first-come, first-served basis.

“The NYC Mayor’s Cup Basketball All-Star Games is a wonderful platform for the best male and female high school seniors to showcase their hard-work and dedication,’” said Fred Dixon, president and CEO of NYC & Company. “Once again this year, the best of local high school basketball will be on display as all-stars from the PSAL and CHSAA square off.”
