Siena Women’s Basketball Head Coach Ali Jaques has announced the signing of Karolina Severova. A 6’0″ guard/forward from Prague, Czech Republic, Severova becomes the fourth member of the Saints’ incoming Class of 2019.
“We are very excited to welcome Karolina to the Siena family,” said Jaques. “She is a talented wing that can really shoot and score the basketball. Her international experience and maturity as a player and person will add a lot to our program.”
Severova joins Jackie Benitez, Katcia Perryman and Deja Rawls as incoming freshmen who will join the Siena Women’s Basketball program this fall. Benitez, Perryman and Rawls previously signed their National Letters of Intent during the early signing period back in November.
Severova spent the past three seasons playing in her native Czech Republic. Primarily competing for Sparta Praha of the Czech Basketball Federation Second League, she averaged 10.9 points and 4.2 rebounds while shooting 35.7% from three-point range from 2012-15. Last season she appeared in 14 games, averaging 10.9 points and 5.2 rebounds in 32.0 minutes while shooting 36.7% from distance.
Severova also saw limited action the past three seasons while also competing for Cesky Poha and Basket Slovanka MB Tabor of the Czech First League.
Severova is a member of the Czech National Team and competed at both the FIBA U16 European Championships in 2010 and U18 Championships in 2012. In 2012 she averaged 8.7 points and 5.0 rebounds in 23.7 minutes of action over nine games.
Severova first came to the United States during the 2011-12 season as a foreign exchange student at Hannibal (N.Y.) High School. In her lone season with the Warriors, she averaged a team-high 11.7 points during the regular season in leading Hannibal to the Class B-2 Championship. Severova, who also competed in track and field, led Hannibal with 18 points in the 2012 Section III Class B Championship Game.
