NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Iona answered a 15-2 Siena run by scoring the next 16 point to build back a 20-point lead and defeat the Saints 71-47 Sunday afternoon at the Hynes Athletics Center. Siena shot just 23.3% (14-60) from the field including 1-9 from three in the loss.

With the defeat, Siena (11-16, 7-9) remains tied for sixth in the MAAC Standings with Canisius which also lost Sunday. With two games remaining, next Sunday’s matchup between the Saints and Golden Griffins in the regular season finale will likely decide who finishes sixth and who is relegated to a First Round game in the MAAC Championships.
