Freshman Margot Hetzke scored a game-high 20 points and senior Tehresa Coles broke Siena’s all-time career steals record as the Saints beat Manhattan, 66-51 at Draddy Gymnasium. The win assures Siena of finishing with a winning record for the first time in 11 years.

“That’s huge for our seniors,” said Siena coach Ali Jaques of securing a winning season. “They’ve been through so much and obviously this year has had its challenges. For our seniors to be able to say that they were the first team in 11 years to have a winning season, that’s a really big deal.”

Eight time MAAC Rookie of the Week winner, Hetzke scored her third 20-point game of her young career, shooting 8-11 from the field while pulling down 7 rebounds. Coles  finished with 14 points hitting all three 3-point attempts and added six rebounds, five assists and three steals. She grabbed her 282nd career steal to pass Mary Gaudreau ’83 as the program’s all-time leader in the first half.

Senior guard Ida Krogh scored 10 points along with 5 assists and 4 rebounds and sophomore  Meghan Donohue added 10 points with 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

With the win, the Saints move to within a half game of  Niagara for fifth place in the MAAC with just three games remaining. The top-five seeds receive First Round byes in the upcoming MAAC Tournament.

With their 15th win of the season, Siena (15-11, 8-9) has also achieved their winningest season since 2003-2004 when they finished 17-11. Their 10th true road win ties Siena for the fourth most nationally.

Ashley Stec led Manhattan (2-23, 1-15) with 14 points and nine rebounds and Shayna Ericksen added 11 points off the bench for the Jaspers which lost their 12th straight game.

“From the top down, from players that haven’t been able to play or participate to the seven that have, I’m just really proud of this group and our coaching staff,” said Jaques.

Siena wraps up a three-game road trip Saturday as they head to Fairfield. Tip off  at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn. is scheduled for noon.
