Siena Women’s Basketball has announced the complete non-conference schedule for the 2013-2014 season. In her second season as head coach of the Saints, Ali Jaques will lead her team in nine non-conference contests, including four opponents who made post season appearances and two of which were nationally ranked in 2013.

“Our staff worked really hard to have a strong non-conference schedule,” said Jaques. “We really wanted to challenge ourselves by playing against some very good teams and well respected coaches.”

Siena will open the season on Friday night Nov. 8 at the Times Union Center vs. cross town rival UAlbany in the annual Albany Cup game. The game will tip off at 5 p.m. as the first game of a double-header with the men’s team. UAlbany is the defending America East Champion and 2013 NCAA Tournament participant.

Jaques will look to continue to build the program in her second year and further an increased fan support which grew 21% last season. The Saints finished last season 13-18 overall advancing to the semifinal game of the MAAC Tournament in Springfield.

“We also worked hard to have non-conference home games on weekends in the hopes of continuing to build on the great crowd support we got from our fans last season,” said Jaques. “We look forward to seeing lots of Green and Gold cheering on the Saints!”

Other non-conference home games to be played on campus in the ARC include Nov. 26 vs. Sacred Heart, a 2013 WNIT team, Buffalo on Dec. 7 and Binghamton on Dec. 21.

On the road, the Saints will face Fairleigh Dickinson on Nov. 16 and will then participate in the TD Bank Classic hosted by Vermont Nov. 22-23. On Friday Nov. 22, Siena will face 2013 Horizon League Champion Green Bay which was ranked 20th in the final AP Top-25 Poll and 24th in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Poll. Vermont will take on North Florida in the other game with the winners and losers to meet on Sat. Nov. 23.

On Dec. 3 Siena will be on the road at Central Connecticut and will play their final non-conference away game at Maryland on Dec. 9. The Terrapins were 26 game winners and advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2013. They finished the season ranked 12th in the AP Top-25 Poll and No. 11 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Poll.
