For the Saints it will be a return to the tournament they won two seasons ago. They marched all the way through, winning the championship in 2014, following a run that culminated with the Saints winning a deciding Game 3 over Fresno State at the Alumni Recreation Center.  The CBI is unique in that the championship is decided with a best-of-three game series between the final two teams. This year’s Championship Series will be held Mar. 28-Apr. 1 and will be televised on ESPNU.

Siena enters the CBI with a 21-12 overall, finishing third in the MAAC with a 13-7 league mark. They advanced to the conference tournament semifinals before falling to eventual champion Iona.

Morehead competes in the Ohio Valley Conference and currently holds a record of 19-12. They finished 11-5 in conference play and as the No. 3 seed, fell to second seeded UT Martin, 83-70, in the semifinals of the OVC Tournament.

The Eagles are led by LSU transfer and Second Team All-OVC selection Corban Collins who averages 11.8 points and 3.1 assists and ranks fourth in the conference shooting 43% from three-point range.

Morehead State entered the semifinal on a season long seven game winning streak. This is their fifth postseason appearance in the past eight seasons. The Eagles played in the 2009 and 2011 NCAA Tournaments, in addition to the 2010 and 2014 CBI.

The winner of Morehead State and Siena will face either Duquesne or Omaha on Monday, March 21.

Siena makes its 13th Division I national postseason tournament appearance (6 NCAA/5 NIT/2 CBI). The Saints are 18-12 in postseason tourney games. In an interesting twist, since the CBI reseeds after the quarterfinals, Siena could potentially face cross town rival UAlbany in a semifinal or final showdown.

This year’s CBI field also includes Montana, Nevada, Western Carolina, Vermont, Omaha, Duquesne, Pepperdine, EWU, Albany, Ohio, Idaho, Seattle, HBU and UNC-Greensboro.
