Siena Men’s Basketball Non-Conference Schedule Released
- Updated: July 16, 2013
Siena Men’s Basketball has announced the 2013-2014 non-conference schedule for the first season under the leadership of Head Coach Jimmy Patsos. Headlining the schedule is the Saints’ participation in the 2013 Old Spice Classic which will kick off with a non-bracketed contest vs. Big 10 member Purdue on Nov. 24 in West Lafayette, IN. Siena will then head to Disney World in Orlando, Fla. to take on Memphis, ranked No. 15 in the ESPN early Top 25 on Thanksgiving Day and will then face either LSU or St. Joseph’s on 11/29 with an opponent TBA (Butler/Washington St./Oklahoma St./Purdue) on Dec. 1.
Following a 4-game Canadian preseason tour, the schedule will kick off with an exhibition game vs. New Jersey City U. coached by former Siena star Marc Brown on Nov. 2 in the ARC. The regular season will begin on Nov. 8 when the Saints will take on the Great Danes of U Albany in a double-header with the women’s team in the annual Albany Cup at the Times Union Center. Other home games will include St. Bonaventure of the A-10 (Nov. 19), Hofstra (12/23) and Fordham of the A-10 (12/30).
The Saints will take to the road to face Vermont (Nov. 12), A-10 member LaSalle, a 2013 Sweet 16 team and Cornell (Nov. 22).
“Obviously, it’s one of the toughest schedules Siena has ever played,” new head coach Jimmy Patsos said. “It will be very challenging, but that’s OK. My main concern is the MAAC, and all these games prepare you for the MAAC. “Everybody has to be patient, because this will probably end up being one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country. We’re a team that’s going to get better as the season goes on.”
