Siena Legends: David Ryan

David Ryan played for Siena from 2002-2007. After red-shirting his freshman year, he went on to become an increasingly valuable player showing perseverance and leadership. An excellent outside shooter, his .480 percentage for the 2005-2006 season led the MAAC, ranked 9th nationally, and ranks 4th all-time at Siena. He is 8th on the all-time list for 3-point percentage for a career, shooting over 40%.

As a senior captain, Ryan  helped lead the Saints to a 20-12 record under Coach Fran McCaffery, an important turnaround which would launch the Saints into  3 championship seasons. Following Siena, he went on to play professionally in Ireland.

 

How did you end up attending Siena?
I was recruited by Coach Lanier and his coaching staff and immediately feltcomfortable with them, when I took a visit it just felt like the right place for me and it was the best decision I ever made.

 

What is your favorite Siena memory on the court?

Senior night was my most memorable night on the court. It was great to be able to have my family with me on the court as I played my last home game and my college career was coming to an end.

 

What is your favorite Siena memory off the court?

I really enjoyed being a part of the Siena community and hanging out with myfriends and teammates.

 

What have you been doing since you left Siena?

After graduation I played basketball for two seasons in Dublin Ireland. I havespent the past two and a half years working for a medical device company as a Sales Consultant on Long Island.

 

Where do you reside, tell us about your family?

I am living in Astoria Queens and I am still dating my girlfriend from college,former volleyball player Christie Gustafson ’07.

 

What are you most looking forward to about the Legends Game?

I am looking forward to catching up with old teammates and friends and playing with some of the Siena greats over the years. I am also looking forward to playing in front of the fans again, and catching up with members of the Siena Community.
