Siena Legend Kenny Hasbrouck To Teach Skills Development

Updated: 7/9/15

While spending some time back in the Capital Region this summer, Siena legend Kenny Hasbrouck will be holding basketball skills development sessions, looking to pass on to others what helped him to become one of Siena’s all-time greats and a successful professional.

“I teach, help improve and develop all the basics with dribbling, shooting, rebounding, defense and also moves and techniques used on the pro level,” explains Hasbrouck. “This will include everything from dribbling with balance while scanning the court to the proper most effective way to use the dribble jump shot.”

Hasbrouck recently concluded his 6th professional season playing for Ferrara of the Italian Silver 2 League. He led the league in scoring with 20.4 points per game and  was 2nd in steals with 2.1 per contest. Hasbrouck led Ferrara to a second place finish with a record of 20-10.

“Everything I teach will be at pro level,” Hasbrouck said. “The workouts will be intense, direct to the point and at game speed! No matter the age or level, it is a process for everyone. I will teach step by step and watch the progression of each person.”

Sessions are taking place now until August 24th at Green Tech Charter school on Mondays & Wednesdays 5-7 pm, Friday 4-7 (appointment only) and Saturday and Sunday by appointment only. Cost is: 1 hour $80, 2 hours $120 and $65 Bring a Friend. It will be a great opportunity to work closely with a special player who knows what it takes.

Conditioning, mentoring, shooting, dribbling, defense and playing one-on-one and two-on-two will all be included. Players will improve in basketball and as a person. Spots are filling up quicker than expected so those interested can email Kenny if you’re planning on attending or for more information at kbcaphts@gmail.com

Hasbrouck played for Siena from 2005-2009 and was one of the corner stones of the most successful era of Saints basketball. During his tenure the Saints went to two NCAA tournaments, winning games against Vanderbilt and an OT thriller against Ohio State. Kenny finished his career with 1,917 points, 4th all time.  His 331 assists rank 12th on the Saints all-time list. His 248 career steals rank first all-time at Siena. For his efforts Kenny achieved national and conference recognition by being named to the AP All-American Honorable Mention team and earning MAAC Player of the Year Honors in 2009. Kenny also achieved Siena’s highest honor. He is one of only four players to have their number retired at Siena College.

Following an illustrious career at Siena, Hasbrouck began his pro career with the NBA Developmental League’s Rio Grande Valley (2009-10) where he averaged 16.9 points per game. In 2010 he spent time with the NBA’s Miami Heat. He has built a solid resume in Europe with  Meridiano Alicante (2010-11) in Spain’s top league, EWE Basket in Germany’s Bundesliga (2011-12), Virtus Bologna (2012-13) in Italy’s SerieA And Mersin (2013-14) of the TBL in Turkey.
