Siena Legend: Brent Sniezyk

Brent Sniezyk played for Siena from 2001-2005. His freshman year he was a part of a MAAC Tournament Championship team that went on to defeat Alcorn State 81-77 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. His sophomore year, the Saints defeated Providence 89-81 during the regular season and finished with a record of 21-11. That year they won two big games in the Postseason NIT, beating Villanova 74-59 and Western Michigan 68-62 before falling to Alabama-Birmingham.

A strong 6-10 post player, Brent played in all 124 games during his career. Following his senior season, he was awarded the Doc Marcelle Most Valuable Player Award. Prior to Siena he played locally for Broadalbin-Perth High School where he averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds on the way to the Section II title.

How did you end up attending Siena?

I signed my letter of intent with Coach Orr. I really enjoyed meeting him and was looking forward to playing for him in the fall. After Coach Orr left in the spring, Coach Lanier immediately came to visit my family in my home town and reassured the confidence in my decision to go to Siena.

What is your favorite Siena memory on the court?

My favorite Siena memory on the court is a toss up between going to the NCAA tournament my freshman year and beating Rider on my Senior Night.

What is your favorite Siena memory off the court?

My favorite Siena memory off the court is meeting my wife as well as life-long friends.

What have you been doing since you left Siena?

Since I left Siena I have been working for my family painting business and today own Sniezyk Painters, Inc. with my brother.

Where do you reside, and tell us about your family:

I live in my hometown of Broadalbin with my wife Jana. Jana teaches Spanish at Saratoga Springs High School and I run a family painting business with my brother.

What are you most looking forward to about the Legends Game?
I am most looking forward to returning to the Siena Basketball community; being in the presence of fans and old teammates.
