Siena draws Hofstra

The Saints will travel to Hempstead to take on the Hofstra Pride on Saturday, February 18, at 4pm as part of the Sears Bracketbuster series. This marks the second time the schools will meet in a Bracketbuster matchup, the first being a 76-62 Saints loss in their first ever Bracketbuster appearance.

“We’re excited to renew our rivalry with Hofstra, one of the top Mid-Major programs in the Northeast,” head coach Mitch Buonaguro said. “It’s a great game for us, and I know it’s an opponent our fans will look forward to seeing at Times Union Center.”

Saints fans might recall the two teams last Bracketbuster meeting due to the ejection of then head coach Fran McCaffery and his wife, both for criticizing officials.

This season the Pride is 7-16, but own an 83-75 win over MAAC leader Iona. Hofstra has not faired as well in conference play, dropping 9 of their last 10 and carrying a 1-10 record in CAA play.

The Saints will get a return home game from Hofstra in one of the next two seasons.
