Two years ago, Jimmy Patsos wrote a column reflecting back on tragic events of 9/11. Patsos who in 2001 was an assistant coach at the University of Maryland, narrowly missed being a passenger on United Flight 175 to Los Angeles out of Logan Airport in Boston, the plane which crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center. A change in travel plans due to Maryland recruit Brandon Bowman opting to choose Georgetown, ultimately saved Patsos’ life.
That season, Maryland would go on to win the national championship capping an emotional time for Patsos who describes the impact on the school, and on him personally having lost personal friends in the tragedy.
Here is a link to his column.
