Siena Announces Non-Conference Schedule
- Updated: August 21, 2014
Siena released its 2014-2015 men’s basketball non-conference schedule on Thursday, consisting of nine games, four at home and five on the road. The Saints will tip off the season on Friday, November 14 at UMass. Fans will have the chance to get their first look at this season’s squad when they take on Division II Gannon in an exhibition game on Saturday, November 8th (time TBA) at the Alumni Recreation Center.
The Saints regular-season home opener takes place on Monday, November 17 against defending America East Regular Season Champion, Vermont at 7 p.m. at Times Union Center. Siena will be looking for revenge versus the Catamounts who have beaten the Saints four straight seasons including wins at the TUC in 2010 and 2012.
Other non-conference home opponents are, UAlbany on Saturday, December 13 as part of a doubleheader with the Siena and UAlbany women’s teams in the annual battle for the Albany Cup, Ivy League opponent Cornell on Tuesday, December 23, and Bucknell which closes out the non-league slate on Sunday, December 28.
Other non-conference road opponents are, St. Bonaventure (November 19) in the annual Franciscan Cup game, Loyola (November 29), Fordham (December 1) and Radford December 19.
“Obviously, it’s another really tough schedule,” Siena coach Jimmy Patsos said. “The first thing that jumps out at you is three Atlantic 10 teams on the road, the sixth rated conference in the country last year (by RPI). Albany, Bucknell and Vermont are proven programs with recent major national postseason experience, Radford won a game in the CBI last year (96-92 at Oregon State), and Cornell and Loyola are going to be much-improved. We’re going to need our fans to show up and support us.”
