Siena Adds Sunny Vadopalaite To Women’s Basketball Staff

Siena Womens’s Basketball Head Coach Ali Jaques has completed her staff with the addition of Saule (Sunny) Vadopalaite as an assistant coach. She joins recently hired assistant coach Bridgette Mitchell and director of basketball operations Christina Richardson as new members of Jaques’ staff. Stephanie McCormick returns for her second season in Loudonville. A native of Vilnius, Lithuania Vadopalaite joins the Saints after spending the last four seasons as assistant coach at Lamar.

Vadopalaite who served as recruiting coordinator for the last two seasons at Lamar should prove valuable in tapping into a strong pool of talent overseas.

“Sunny is a great addition to our coaching staff,” said Jaques. “We are excited about her international background and proven ability to recruit European prospects. Our current players will enjoy her enthusiasm and love for the game of basketball.”

Prior to her time at Lamar, Vadopalaite  served as an assistant coach at Division III Kean (N.J.) University (2009-10) and Division II West Virginia Wesleyan (2007-09). She played at Long Island University (2002-04) and Division II Felician (N.J.) College (2004-06) and was a member of the Lithuanian Junior National Team from 1998-01.

“I am beyond excited to come back to the Northeast and be a part of Coach Jaques’ staff and become a member of the Saints’ Family,” said Vadopalaite. “Siena is a program on the rise and I look forward to helping Coach Jaques build a championship team.”

Along with the new staff members, Jaques brings in five new talented pieces to this season’s roster. Freshmen Emmanuella Edoka, Margot Hetzke, Kollyns Scarbrough, Joella Gibson along with George Mason Denisha Petty-Evans join a core of returning talent.
