SG Robert Poole

The following is the ESPN.com writeup on future Saint Robert Poole. Poole is a 6’5″ SG out of Paul VI in Haddonfield, NJ. Poole was the 143rd rated SG in the nation with a scouting grade of 80.

Poole is skilled swingman with a very good shooting stroke and terrific size for the perimeter. He shoots the ball equally well off the catch or the dribble, has deep range on his three-point stroke, and the high release to get his shot off with only a small amount of separation from his defender. He picks up some easy points by cutting extremely hard to the rim when away from the ball and is generally a mistake free player who keeps the floor spaced and doesn’t try to do things he isn’t capable of.

Poole is essentially a one or two dribble player from the perimeter and not much of a threat to create his own shot against a set defender. He doesn’t have any explosion in his game and is neither lightning quick or overly bouncy. He has some defensive limitations but uses his size to the best of his ability on that end of the floor. Poole needs to handle better vs. pressure and rebound more consistently.

Bottom Line:

Poole has good size and skill and a high understanding of the game. While he is a good shooter from the perimeter, he isn’t quite a great shooter, and so it will be important for him to diversify his game and/or continue to hone his release.
