Recap: Siena 81 Marist 73

The 2011 Siena senior class left the Times Union Center in a familiar fashion, as winners. The Saints once again mounted a second half comeback to get an emotional win on Senior Night, 81-73 over rival Marist.

The Saints were led by Ryan Rossiter who saved his best performance for last, posting a career high 34 points in the win. Ryan added 11 boards to set Siena’s single season rebounding record at 388. He exited the game in the final minute to a well deserved standing ovation in recognition of an outstanding career.

Senior Clarence Jackson also went out in style, scoring 19 including a rousing second half dunk. Clarence looked like the Clarence of old tonight and gave the Saints faithful one last time to remember what a special player he was.

Steven Priestley earned a well deserved Senior Day start over OD Anosike and grabbed a board in 5 minutes of action. OD led the Saints bench with 14 pts and 7 boards. Jonathon Breeden, starting in place of the injured Rakeem Brookins added 10 pts of his own.

It was great to see the crowd recognize the accomplishments of this year’s senior class in the final minute of the game. These three men had outstanding accomplishments in their time with the program and it was fantastic to see them recognized one last time at home.

While the regular season has come to end, the postseason is just beginning. The Saints will face Manhattan on Friday night in the opening round of the MAAC tournament. The Saints finished the regular season with a record of 12-17 and in 7th place. Manhattan finished the year 5-26 and in 10th place.
