Post game reactions following Siena’s MAAC Tourney loss to Niagara:

Mitch Buonaguro

“I really thought it was a hard fought game. I thought our guys played as hard as the could. We were right in the game with 5 minutes to go.”

“Green and Masson have been making plays all year but I cant ask any more of the kids.”

“I thought we played our best basketball toward the end of the year which is really rewarding as a coach.”

“I was very instrumental in recruiting him (OD). To see his progression from his freshman to his senior year and to put up the rebound numbers have been phenomenal. He’ll go down as one of the top front court players in the history of Siena.”

“OD’s made his mark not only on the basketball court but more importantly off the court. Siena wants to produce student athletes like OD. He’s been a wonderful representative of the school.”

On his future

“It’s out of my control. I’ll get evaluated at the end of the year like I do every year. They’ll be a decision made obviously by the university. I’m just gonna continue. I’m the coach. I have a contract through next year and we’ll see what happens.”.

“I love Siena and I want to be there. I don’t think anyone works harder than me at coaching. This is a year where we had a lot of adversity. There’s a lot of things that go on during s season that the average person doesn’t see.”

OD Anosike

“It’s been a great 4 years. If I had to do it all over again I wouldn’t change it for the world. This is a place that has given me so much not only on the court but off the court. I’m able to graduate in May with a phenomenal degree. I met so many different people. The relationships that I’ve built will last a lifetime.”

“Siena has prepared me to do other things in life, not only basketball . I came in here an 18 year old kid. I’m leaving here a 22 year old man.”

“With the basketball here at Siena I put myself in a position to gain a lot of exposure.I’m excited about my professional career. I think my best basketball is ahead of me.”

“After the game was over I kind of sat there and reflected not only on my season but my past 4 years and the only thing that came to my mind were positive things.”

“This was a lot of fun. By no means am I downplaying the fact that I would have wanted more wins.”

“I’m o.k. Nobody wants the season to end and I’m not downplaying the fact I’m gonna miss Siena, my team and my coaching staff so much but at the same time I want to reiterate…. the academics and basketball are really second to none in my opinion.”

“We really fought hard today. Niagara is a team that can beat you in a multitude of ways.”

“I think you have to throw out the seeding in every tournament game. If you think about what seed you are you’re probably not gonna have a good chance of winning. We got a win last night and wanted to come in today and make a statement. We fought hard, we made it close we just didn’t seal the deal.”

“If I had it my way it would be a blood bath. I want it really physical. Put the whistles in the pocket.”

Evan Hymes

“They’re all great guards and they’re all capable of driving which makes it tougher to guard their three.”

“We’re gonna miss OD. We’re gonna mis his leadership but were just gonna move forward from here. Take a couple weeks off and get right back in the gym.”

Rob Poole

“It was a tough season. I know people picked us to win more games. I think at the end of the year we started to come together. The turnovers killed us all year. If think if we cut down on them we would have won a couple more games but that’s how the season goes.”
