Post Game Reaction Following Loss To Marist

Here are post game remarks from Siena Head Coach Mitch Buonaguro following the 76-74 loss to Marist.

“I thought it was a hell of a basketball game. Both teams played really well, our best offensive game of the year really. I looked at the numbers, 17 assists, 10 turnovers, 48%, 87 (%) from the line. It’s just a shame we lost the game.”

“I think Marist is much improved from when we played them the first time. I knew it was going to be this type of game. It came down to the last couple of plays.”

On the Hymes potential tying 3-pointer that went half way down with 20 seconds to go

“We ran a set play for Rob Poole. They kind of bottled him up and he threw it to Evan. It wasn’t a great shot but I think under where we were it was okay.”

OD unable to play down the stretch and receiving IV treatment after the game

“He’s dehydrated. He’s really not feeling well and his ankle was bothering him so we really had no choice. He wanted to play but he couldn’t.”

“OD gave it his all tonight. He played hard and they were really playing him physical. He still had 16 and 9. That’s a pretty good game.”

On Marist’s Adam Kemp

“He’s really improved. He had 29 and 16 against Iona. He’s really coming on. He’s a good player. He’s big, he’s athletic, he’s tough. There were times we couldn’t match up. He really played well.”

“We’ve got to shore up our defense a little bit. I think our defense tonight let us down.”

On the cramping issues

“I wish I had an answer. OD has been pretty durable. He’s a guy who hasn’t had an issue with cramps. He’s playing so hard I think he got dehydrated.”

“The most disappointing thing is that we didn’t get a win for him. I think that’s disappointing in the sense that he doesn’t go out on a high. But, he can hold his head high. He’s had a great career.”
