So what else is new. Ronald Moore again came through big time in the clutch in the fifth and deciding semifinal game as Nitra defeated Vahostav-Zilina 95-80 today to advance to the championship round.

Ronald led his team with 28 points 12 assists 3 steals and 2 rebounds.  Fellow American J.J. Montgomery (Arkansas St.) also had  a strong performance for team Nitra with 26 points and 8 rebounds. With the victory Ronald finds himself in a very familiar position, leading his team into the championship. At Siena he appeared in the MAAC championships all four years, winning it the last three.

Team Nitra will begin their quest for the title this Wednesday vs. Levice in the final round of the Slovakian Extraliga. Ronald is currently averaging 16.5 points per game and a league leading 7 assists per game. Best of luck to Ronald and Team Nitra.

CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATES:

Game 1 Update: Wednesday 4/27/11: Ronald Moore put in a solid performance today as Team Nitra opened up a 1-0 lead in the championship series defeating Levice 86-77.  Ronald finished with 14 points 11 rebounds 5 assists and 4 steals. Game two of the series is this Friday.

Game 2 Update 5/1/11:  On Friday Nitra lost to Levice to even the championship series at one game a piece.  Ronald Moore led his team with 34 points 5 rebounds and 8 assists.  Team Nitra will look to regain the lead in the series in game 3 on Wednesday.

Game 3 Update 5/4/11: Team Nitra won an exciting 2 overtime buzzer beater game over Levice 96-94 to take a two games to one lead in the championship series.  Ronald Moore came through with another double-double scoring 18 points along with 10 assists, 7 rebounds and  4 steals. the win puts Team Nitra one win away from the championship when they face Levice again this Saturday.

Game 4 Update 5/7/2011: Team Nitra failed to close out Levice today, falling by the score of 85-77. Ronald Moore led the way for Nitra in the defeat, scoring a game high 25 pts. The series is now knotted at 2 games a piece with the deciding Game 5 set to be played this Wednesday, the 11th, on Nitra’s home court. Good Luck Ronald!
