Marquis Wright To Work Out For Washington Wizards

Siena’s Marquis Wright will be among six NBA prospects to work out for the Washington Wizards on Thursday at the Verizon Center.

Other prospects included in the workout are Peter Jok (Iowa), Darell Combs (IUPUI), Andrew White III (Syracuse), Amida Brimah (Connecticut) and Tim Kempton Jr. (Lehigh).

Wright finished his career third all-time at Siena in assists (614), fifth in steals (199) and 10th in points (1,546).

As a senior he helped lead the Saints to the MAAC Tournament Championship Game for the first time in seven years. He was named to the All MAAC Second Team and the MAAC All Tournament Team. Wright ranked second in the MAAC in assists (5.0) and sixth in scoring (16.8).

Former Siena great Edwin Ubiles played briefly for the Wizards in 2012.

From Waldorf, Maryland, Wright was named the 2013 Maryland Gatorade High school Player of the Year.

Here is a description of Wright from the official Washington Wizards Blog:

Fit: The Siena point guard starred at local North Point High School (MD) and will now get a chance to try out for the local NBA team in the Wizards. Wright is a pass-first point guard who also can score inside and out, averaging 16.8 points and 5.0 assists per game in his senior season. Though undersized at 6’1″, Wright is a solid and aggressive defender who may surprise some people on his quest to make it to the NBA.
