Maddie Sims Commits To Siena

Siena Women’s basketball landed another solid recruit on Friday when Coach Ali Jaques  received a commitment from Maddie Sims, a 6-2 forward from Lenape High School in Medford, New Jersey. Sims will join the Saints in the fall of 2016.

Sims announced that she had made her verbal commitment via Twitter on Friday.

The left-hander is described as an “extremely versatile player who can shoot from the outside but is also a nice rebounder and good at finding the open person, a smart player”.

An Olympic Conference, All-American Division First Team selection, Sims led Lenape to the South Jersey, Group 4 final, where they fell to Shawnee to end the season with a 25-4 record. Sims led the Lenape offense with 14.9 points per game,

Sims played for the NY-NJ based iExcel program and Coach Walter Welsh describes Sims this way, “Who doesn’t need a 6’2″ player who can put the defense on her back and showcase her post moves.  Maddie can face up and beat the defense off the dribble, knock down the 10 – 12 foot shot and can take the ball off the glass and start the break.  She can defend and block shots even if the opponent is taller.  She is a leader who makes her team better everytime she steps on the court.”
