Hymes Wins 4th Rookie of the Week Award

For the fourth time this season Siena freshmen sensation Evan Hymes was crowned MAAC Rookie of the Week. Hymes leads all MAAC freshmen in winning the award this season. Originally the MAAC release named Hymes as the sole winner, however it was later updated stating he was the co-winner with Mariat’s Chavaughn Lewis.

Hymes was recognized for his outstanding performance in leading the Saints to victory over a dangerous Manhattan club. Hymes scored a game high 21 points in that matchup, shooting 8-13 from the field, including hitting five threes. Hymes also added career highs with 7 assists and 4 steals.

Immediately after the game, Hymes earned high praise from Manhattan head coach Steve Masiello.

“He played like the best point guard in the league tonight,” said Masiello. “Forget freshman.”
