Junior Marcus Hopper confirmed his intention to transfer from Siena following the spring semester. It had previously been announced that Hopper would redshirt this season. Since he has not appeared in any games this season he will have two full years of eligibility remaining.

Hooper is a seldom used reserve who saw limited action during the 2012-13 season. He appeared in six games logging 13 minutes of playing time. As a freshman he appeared in 21 games logging 80 total minutes and scoring 8 points.

He recently visited Division II North Georgia to possibly transfer there.

With Hopper’s departure a scholarship would open up for next season which would have otherwise not existed with no current scholarship seniors on the current roster.

Here is a copy of the release from Siena Athletics:

Siena junior forward Marcus Hopper announced his intention to transfer from Siena College following the spring semester. Hopper, who has not played this season for the Saints, will have two years of eligibility remaining.

“I’ve had a great experience at Siena,” Hopper said. “I’m just hoping to find an opportunity where I can play more.”

Hopper will continue to practice with the Saints throughout the season.

“We wish Marcus the best of luck,” Siena coach Jimmy Patsos said. “I know this wasn’t easy for him, but I respect and understand the decision.”

Hopper appeared in 27 games in his first two seasons with the Saints, averaging 3.4 minutes per appearance
