Hayley Winter Signs With Siena

Siena Women’s Basketball Head Coach Ali Jaques announced the program’s newest addition to the Saints’ 2017-18 roster. Hayley Winter of Perth, Australia had signed and returned her National Letter of Intent and will enroll at Siena College for Fall 2017. Winter is the fourth newcomer to the 2017-18 roster.

“Hayley brings a high basketball IQ and tremendous experience to our back court,” said head coach Ali Jaques. “She can play multiple positions and contribute right away.  As the daughter of two coaches with international and junior college experience, I was impressed with her maturity and confidence on the court.  She is a pre-med/health professions major and as a well rounded student-athlete will be a great fit for our Siena family.”

Winter is a combo guard from Perth, Australia who has played two seasons at Mineral Area College. This past season she led the Lady Cardinals with 13.5 points per game as she started and played in all 32 games. She shot 76-percent from the charity stripe, 41-percent from the field and 35-percent from behind the arc. Winter averaged 7.2 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 2.4 steals and led the team in each of those categories. She played more than 34 minutes in the Region 16 Title game and helped the Lady Cardinals capture its second title in program history. Winter was named a Second All-Region selection while also receiving Honorable Mention for the NJCAA All-America team. She was also a two-time First Team All-MCCAC, First Team All-Region and an NJCAA All-Academic award winner. Winter was the second Mineral Area women’s basketball player to earn both academic and athletic All-America honors.
