Franklin Scores 10 in Win For Puerto Rico


Former Siena Saint Alex Franklin continues to make a strong contibution to the Puerto Rican National Team as he scored 10 points with 4 rebounds and 2 assists as Puerto Rico won their first round game in FIBA Olympic Qualifying over Jordan 93-52.  Peter Ramos led the way for Puerto Rico with 20 points and 9 rebounds.

” We really came together as a team. We went to the Centrobasket tournament to come together. I think we have as good of a chance as any other. As long as we stay together, stay focused and follow our game plan I think we’re gonna be ready.”, said Franklin.

Puerto Rico will take on Greece next in group play on Wednesday, July 4th. Franklin spoke about the next opponent. “They’re a good team. It’s gonna  be 40 minutes of hard work. They really play well together, They move the ball a lot. We’re gonna have to pay attention to details, really focus in and try to come out with the win”.

Group play results will determine seedings for the quarterfinal round which begins on Friday. The top three teams over all in the twelve team tournament will qualify for the Olympic Games in London.
