UPDATE 10/04/11

While selection is under way for the Puerto Rican National Team to compete in the Pan American Games, Head Coach Flor Melendez is waiting to see whether NBA players Jose Juan Barea and Carlos Arroyo will participate. Both Barea and Arroyo have said they would make a final decision whether or not to attend the Pan American Games this weekend. Reports out of the camp indicate that among the group contending for a spot on the team the one drawing the most attention is Edwin Ubiles, who has shone in training for his athletic ability, including several dunks well above the rim on the breaks yesterday. Head coach Melendez stated“… I have been impressed. You have to work it, but there is much potential there,” said Melendez.
