Siena Athletics issued the following release on Monday concerning junior forward Brett Bisping:

Siena junior forward Brett Bisping confirmed today he will be unable to return to the Siena men’s basketball program this season. Bisping indicated he plans to apply for a Medical Hardship Waiver with the NCAA.

The 6-8 Bisping suffered a dislocation at the metatarsal phalangeal, and an avulsion fracture of the flexor tendon in his right foot in Siena’s sixth game of the season – an 88-67 victory over Quinnipiac on December 5 – and hasn’t played since. He had surgery on December 12, but will not be able to regain full mobility by the end of the season.

If Bisping’s request for a Medical Hardship Waiver is granted, he will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Bisping was one of the most improved players in college basketball last season, averaging 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds on his way to earning MVP honors in the College Basketball Invitational. He was averaging 8.7 points and 4.7 rebounds this season at the time of his injury.
