Ben Davis Named New Assistant

.Ben Davis has been chosen as the new assistant coach at Siena. This completes the coaching staff for 2nd year head coach Mitch Buonaguro.  Ben will join returning assistant coach Craig Carter along with new assistant Tobin Anderson and new director of basketball operations Tyler Simms. With two new assistant coaches, a new D.O.B.O., and 6 incoming freshmen a.k.a. “The Saintly Six”, a gale force of fresh air has blown over Loudonville giving cause for maximum excitement.

“Ben has demonstrated a phenomenal work ethic, and will be a valuable asset to our staff,” Buonaguro said through a release from the school. “I was looking for someone who could hit the ground running in this position, and handle many of the day-to-day responsibilities surrounding our program. I’m confident Ben is the right man for the job.”

Ben and asstistant coach Tobin Anderson were familiar with each other proir to their time at Siena. “I knew Coach Anderson well from working summer camps and being on the road at various recruiting events over the past few years,” Davis said when reached for comment. “He made a recommendation to Coach Buonaguro that I should come to campus and interview for the open position on staff”.

Ben comes to Siena from D-2 Stonyhill College where he served as assistant coach for four years including the last two as top assistant. His tenure as assistant at Stonyhill included multiple NCAA tournament appearances and a regular season Northeast-10 championship. His now former boss, head coach David McLaughlin, has said of Davis, “He has grown as a coach each year…… His evaluating and recruiting skills are invaluable and play a key role in our program attracting top student-athletes. His work ethic allows for him to have a very bright future.” Ben also worked for one season as head assistant and recruiting coordinator at NCAA Division III Nichols College.  He is a graduate of Wheaton College where he played for 4 years and served as captain his senior season, graduating with degrees in history and political science.

After interviewing on campus and being offered the job the following week, Ben expressed to 4guysinblazers his enthusiasm about coming to Siena. “I’m extremely excited to come to Siena and join Coach Buonaguro and his staff. The college and basketball program has a great tradition and I’m looking forward to coming in and contributing to its success”.
